All of it is in the repo.

The library and the app, with the same code on your instance as anywhere else. There’s no closed part to wait for and no hosted version to buy.

AGPL-3.0, in plain words

Trailic is free software under the GNU Affero General Public License v3.0: run it, study it, change it and share it. If you offer a modified version to others over a network, you publish your changes under the same licence. Running it unchanged for your own company doesn’t trigger that. The licence

What’s in the repo

packages/trailic
The library: the component, track, identify, the server helper, vitals and the relay.
src/
The app: the collector, the flush, the screens, the MCP server and the figures API.
docs/00-product.md
The spec: what it does, what it collects, how it fails, what it costs on a test machine, and what’s planned.
scripts/load-test.ts
The load test behind the figures we quote. It refuses anything but localhost.

Self-hosting

It’s the only way to run it for now. The steps, the environment and what it takes on Vercel or elsewhere are on one page.

How to run it

Adding it to a site

Add a site in the app, then put one component in your layout. The package isn’t on npm yet, so until it is, you build it from packages/trailic.

// app/layout.tsx, inside <body>, once
import { Trailic } from "trailic";

<Trailic siteKey="site_…" endpoint="https://your-instance.example/api/e" />

Before you depend on it

This is a first version. It hasn’t collected real traffic, its data model may change, and there’s no upgrade path between versions so far. Don’t rely on it as your only analytics yet.
